| Whitney
E. Nye is a painter, sculptor and installation artist based
in Portland, Oregon. Her work is deeply affected by the texture,
hues and sensations of the world that surrounds her. |
 |
| Working in different mediums and sizes,
Nye consistently examines patterns of repetition. She explores the
rhythms and pauses of our natural world, becoming a conduit for their
character. Her art explores both entropy and renewal. |
 |
| Paintings by Nye contain a rich and complex
style of layering, achieved through the incorporation of contrasting
surfaces, as well as by sanding, carving, and the use of different
paints. |
 |
| Whatever her medium, Nye's work is notable
for its equilibrium and the serenity with which the artist unites diverse
textures. Additionally, many of her three-dimensional works exude her
attraction to the nature of light and reflection. |
 |
| Whitney Nye is a graduate of the University
of Oregon, a former Artist-in-Residence at the Oregon College of
Arts and Craft and was a member of the Regional Arts and Culture
Council's design roster from 1998 to 2002. |

Russo Gallery in Oregon, the Julie Nester Gallery in Utah, and the Cumberland Gallery in Tennessee |
