A Landscape in Motion: The Artistic Vision Behind Ramble
Lake | 2023 | Mixed Media | 82 x 68”
In Ramble, Whitney Nye’s creative process draws inspiration from both rural highways and urban energy. Her mixed-media collages—described as “two-lane blacktop views”—evoke the quiet introspection of road trips, capturing fleeting vistas and internal reflections. Contrasting these rural motifs are the large-scale wall hangings created during her time in New York City’s garment district. Painted from above using textile dyes, these layered works channel the bustle of city life—making vibrant, rhythmic compositions that resonate with the tension between order and chaos.
